Reds prepare for first signing of 2010?

As the January transfer window opens Liverpool are preparing a move for Atletico Madrid star Maxi Rodriguez, according to reports.

The Argentinian midfielder's contract with the Spansih club expires in the summer and Rafael Benitez is apparently keen to bring him in on loan until the end of the season.
