Steven Gerrard has spoken of his relief after being acquited of affray in a Southport bar in December.

"I just want to say how pleased I am. I want to be able to put this behind me and look forward to the season ahead," he said upon leaving Liverpool Crown Court.

"Thank you to my legal team, friends and family and Liverpool Football Club for supporting me."
